FAQ

These are the most commonly asked questions.  If you have a question that is not answered on our site, please give us a call or email and we would be happy to answer it for you.

How does a cloth diaper service work?

Our cloth diaper service rents you the use of our diapers. Delivery of fresh clean diapers and pick up of soiled diapers is made each week on the same day of the week at approximately the same hour of the day.  Your routine salesperson may not come at the exact same time of day each week.  Weather conditions and new customers on the route may cause your delivery time to vary slightly from week to week.  We appreciate your understanding. You are charged for the number of diapers you order per week regardless of the amount of diapers you actually use.  If you find youself with extra diapers two weeks in a row, then please contact us to see about reducing your order.  We have found that the more diapers you use, the more cost efficient you will find our service.

What process do you use to launder the diapers?

Our wash process uses minimal chemistry at extremely high temperatures in commerical washers-extractors.  Our wash process is free of chemical fragrance and chlorine dyes, and uses biodegradable and phosphate- free detergents.  In addition, Diaper Duty use 100% cotton prefold diapers.

Do I have to soak or treat the diapers in any way?

All the we require is that you shake out any loose material. This is the same requirement that is required for disposable diapers prior to going into a trash bin.  You wouldn't have to rinse or soak the diapers.  The diaper is taken off your baby, placed into the laundry bag, and picked up by our service.

My family would like to prepay for Diaper Service as a gift.  Is that possible?

Of course!  We offer gift certificates in any dollar amount for Diaper Service or for purchases of products.

Can I use diaper cream with cloth diapers?

Most cloth diaper users will agree that it is not usually necessary to use diaper cream.  Babies are changed more frequently and therefore not exposed to the same harsh conditions that babies in disposable diapers have to deal with.  We have found that some diaper creams, especially those with a fish oil base, will leave a greasy residue on cloth diapers.  Desitin seems to be the worst offender of the group.  We are looking for a washroom solution at this time.  We hope to carry a line of products in our retail store that will not leave stains or smelly residue.

Is it cheaper to use cloth diapers?

No doubt about it! Purchasing and handling your own cloth diapers is the most cost efficient way.  However many people do not want the hassle of washing their own diapers and/or their own washing machines are not as efficient.  This is where we come in.  Clean cloth diapers are delivered right to your door and still cost less per diaper than buying disposables.

Will I receive my own diapers each week?

Not necessarily.  At this point, we cannot guarantee that your baby will receive the same diapers each week.  However, each of our diapers enter a stringent cleaning process and are washed and sanitized before delivered to your home.

I noticed that the diapers seem to be quilted. Does that make them less effective?

Actually, it is just the opposite. Cloth diapers are most absorbent after many washes.

Do you deliver the same day each week?

We come to you the same day each week but the time may vary as we add more customers to our route.  Our deliveries start at 5 a.m. so it is important to place your bin outside the night before.  If our driver has to come back because diapers are not placed outside, there will be an additional fee.

The diapers have a light stain on them, are they clean enough to use?

Sometimes light staining on the diapers occur.  All of our diapers go through a stringent cleaning process and are returned to you ready to use.

What do I do with a soiled diaper if I am not at home and need to do a diaper change?

When you are on the go, just place the soiled diaper in the travel tote bag.  The waterproof tote bags have a drawstring closure.  When you get home, simply drop the diaper in our laundry service bag.

If  I go on vacation, can I freeze my service?

Absolutely!  We require a one week notice and that they soiled diapers be picked up.  Additional fees may apply.

If I decide to discontinue my diaper service, are the diapers mine to keep?

Brian Lewis' Diaper Duty provides diapers for our customers as rentals only.

Do I receive the same amount of diapers each week?

The first week you receive diapers, you will receive your full order. Usually this is prior to baby being born but not necessarily. The second week we pick up the soiled diapers and leave you a full order.  We count the diaper picked up and make a note on our sheet.  The next week we deliver the amount of diapers that was picked up on the second week and pick up your soiled diapers.  You will receive that amount the following week.  For example,

Week 1: drop off 72 infant Week 2: drop off 72 infant and collect 65 soiled
Week 3: drop off 65 infant and collect 70 soiled
Week 4: drop off 70  infant and so forth.
